Vancouver Canucks Name Trevor Linden President, Hockey Operations and Alternate Governor

Earlier we reported Mike Gillis was fired by the Vancouver Canucks organization exactly one day after the team fell out of the western conference playoff race and one day before season ticket renewals were due.

Many rumours are swirling on who the next President and G.M. may be and a possible candidate is ex captain Canuck – Trevor Linden. Rumours heated up Tuesday morning when TSN’s Bob McKenzie tweeted the following:

However, Trevor Linden says the organization has not contacted him with any offers. He also goes onto to say:

“when teams struggle, there’s lot’s of speculation, and for me I’ve been rumoured to do lots of things”

It seemed as though Trevor Linden was just keeping calm and professional because as of today (Wednesday April 9) the Canucks have named Trevor Linden President, Hockey Operations and Alternate Governor, NHL Linden will return to lead the team that he played on for 16 seasons, including seven as team captain.

In his role, Linden will be responsible for all hockey operations, including the coaching and scouting staffs, player procurement and development, and minor league affiliations and operations.

Since retiring after 19 seasons in the NHL, Linden has resided in Vancouver where he has led a number of successful business ventures ranging from commercial/residential development projects to fitness club chains. He has also remained involved in the community through the Trevor Linden Foundation.
