Five local beaches that were recently closed for swimming have officially reopened, just in time for the long weekend!
Kitsilano Beach, Kitsilano Point, Whytecliff, Ambleside, Sandy Cove, Barnett Marine Park, and Trout Lake were all closed for public swimming due to high levels of E. coli bacteria in the waters.

All except Trout Lake are now safe again according to Vancouver Coastal Health and the City of Burnaby.
Vancouver Coastal Health recently warned swimmers and scuba divers to avoid these areas, as the high level bacteria in the water increase risk of gastro-intestinal illness to swimmers.
Water quality at all Metro Vancouver beaches is tested weekly between April and September.
