An intense search is underway in Langley, B.C. for a straight-A high school student who vanished from her bedroom over the weekend.
Sixteen-year-old Mandy McPhee was last seen Saturday around 11:30 p.m. at her family’s Brookswood-area home. She said goodnight to her parents, but when her mother checked her bedroom the next morning, she was gone.
Her parents say the disappearance is completely out of character for Mandy, a good student who was studying for her upcoming exams and is not suffering from any medical condition.
“She is a straight-A student, and it is exam time, and she was excited about doing well in school,” RCMP Cpl. Holly Marks told CTV News.
“Additionally, she had a trip that she was looking forward to at the end of the month, and it’s just entirely out of character for this young girl. She’s never run away before.”
Mounties have been unable to track Mandy through her friends or computer activity.
On Monday, search and rescue crews began scouring South Langley for any trace of the missing girl.
“We’re going into ravines, we’re going into parks, we’re going into anywhere that we think she might be,” search and rescue coordinator Paul Crosby said.
Amanda Grace McPhee is white, 5-3 tall and about 160 pounds. She has blond hair, blue eyes, and may have been wearing a black rain coat, black track pants with a thin yellow stripe on the side and black Converse running shoes.
Anyone with information about Mandy’s whereabouts is asked to call RCMP.
