A Stunning Pink Moon Will Illuminate Vancouver’s Skies This April

Full Strawberry Moon

If you’re scratching your head and asking yourself what a pink moon is, rest assured, you’re not alone.

April’s full moon is called the Full Pink Moon, “heralding the appearance of the “moss pink,” or wild ground phlox – one of the first spring flowers”.

The April moon has also been called the Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and the Fish Moon.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, “native peoples once observed the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full moon”.

What this all means is that the moon isn’t really pink. However, it’ll still be quite the sight for stargazers.

The full moon will light up local skies on Friday, April 19th at 7:12 a.m. April’s new moon will appear on Friday, April 5th at 4:50 a.m. All dates and times for the listed moon sightings are Eastern Time (ET).
