Stargazers will be in for a treat on Friday, Feb 10th. Look up to the sky for a unique opportunity to catch a glimpse of a penumbral lunar eclipse.

During the eclipse, the main shadow of Earth won’t cover the Moon. When the shadow misses the Moon during the eclipse, there aren’t any other locations on Earth where the Moon appears partially or totally eclipsed, throughout the event.

The moonrise will begin at 5:27pm, with the maximum eclipse viewing time for Vancouver starting at 5:31pm.
The maximum time occurs when the Moon is close under the horizon. In order to get the best view possible, trying going to a high point or finding an unobstructed area.
The eclipse will come to an end at approximately 6:53pm.
Only parts of the eclipse will be visible in Vancouver, but it’s a rare and magical opportunity.
