Metrotown Station Opens Four New Elevators

The station recently added four escalators prior to the this addition, meaning that there are a total of eight altogether.
Construction at the station has been ongoing since the passenger walkway over Kingsway Street was closed in 2016. After that time, major improvements were made to the station itself including three new elevators, compass gates, a set of permanent stairs, and a brand new entrance.

Translink is also adding more 80 more SkyTrain cars by 2020 to help ease congestion. They estimate that this will accommodate 8,200 more passengers per hour.
