If you drive a Ford, your car might be on a Canada-wide recall list.
Ford is currently recalling certain vehicles, citing an issue with its visual system that can cause an increase in potential crashes. Transport Canada’s announcement followed the recall, and on May 9 they issued a notice to alert all Ford drivers.
VISUAL GLITCHES
You may have already noticed it on your own car if it is on the recall list. As the announcement reads, “a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the transmission is shifted into reverse.” Essentially, your backup camera could be showing you the wrong image, not showing you the hazards you should be looking out for.
Furthermore, the safety risk reads that this “could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.”

Thankfully, there have been no reports of any Ford recall-related incidents. But it has affected upwards of 159,13 vehicles in Canada.
If your car is on the list below, Transport Canada states that all you need to do is wait for a mailed notification from Ford. They will be sending over a “wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update to the SYNC software.” You can also schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.
