Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley on Thursday, December 7. Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.
According to a release, a strong ridge of high pressure will persist over British Columbia through this week. Moisture trapped under a temperature inversion will result in extensive areas of dense fog.
The fog will become more patchy during the afternoons particularly away from the water.
If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility. Motorists are warned to slow down, watch for tail lights, and be prepared to stop.
Environment Canada adds that combined with cold temperatures, the fog can result in slippery roads and sidewalks.
