The Canine Library

The Canine Library is an annual event hosted at John Hendry Trout Lake Park. It offers readers the chance to sit with a certified therapy dog and read to them. The event happens rain or shine, and invites everyone to grab a library card, check out a book, and explore Vancouver Public Library’s digital database.

One thing to note is that you can only register for the event in-person at the park. Kids 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult, too.

Once you’re registered, you’ll receive a bark-code that will allow you to check out a pup for a 10-minute session. As the event notes, “the pup lineup will be announced as soon as they calm down from all of the excitement.”

Head to Victoria Drive on East 19th Ave. behind the community centre on the east side along the path to find the tail-wagging fun!
