Returning for another year is the highly-anticipated Steveston Salmon Festival! This free annual celebration brings together the Steveston community for a day full of fun, food, and live performances.
2025 marks the Steveston Salmon Festival’s 78th year celebrating! If you’ve got a love for salmon and good times, then this will be the place to be this Canada Day!
STEVESTON SALMON FESTIVAL 2025
The Steveston Salmon Festival pays homage to what helped build Steveston into what it is today: salmon. This community’s fishing heritage remains an important part of its citizens’ lives, and so Steveston loves to celebrate accordingly with “Canada’s biggest little birthday party” every year.

The festival begins at 9:30am with the Kids Bike Parade, which is followed by the official Canada Day Parade. It starts from the beautiful Garry Point Park and ends at Moncton Street and Railway Avenue.
Aside from the big parades, a highlight of the Steveston Salmon Festival is the Salmon Bake. There will also be a pancake breakfast bright and early at 8:00am; and you’ll have the chance to try some Japanese-Canadian Chow Mein, too! Additionally, there will be plenty of food trucks located all throughout the festival.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT
If you’re looking for music, then the Steveston Salmon Festival has you covered. There will be two music zones offering up live performances from noon until 7:00pm. The Vancouver bands Ten Souljers and Aristo-Cats will be on stage, as well as the Canadian dance band Dr. Strangelove.
You can catch these programs at the festival:
- The Japanese Cultural Show, featuring demonstrations and performances
- Sammy’s Fun Zone: the perfect place for the younger ones. They can get their faces painted, play interactive games, and make their own buttons.
- A Youth Zone filled with music and games
- An Art Show with local artists
- Exhibits at the Steveston Museum and Post Office, the Britannia Shopyards National Historic Site, and the Gulf of Georgia Cannery
