Public Disco has already brought a vibrant start to Vancouver’s summer with their Granville Island Block Party. As part of their 2024 Summer Series, presented by 2 Hoots Hard Iced Tea, they’ve been transforming urban spaces into lively dance floors. These shows have been offering a blend of music, dance, and community spirit. Now, Public Disco are going to continue this streak with two more exciting events: The Public Disco x SLAB Open Air Day Party and the Public Disco Pride Block Party.

Public Disco x SLAB Open Air Day Party

Date: Saturday, July 20, 2024
Time: 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Location: City Centre Artist Lodge, 2111 Main Street, Vancouver, BC
Vancouver’s music lovers, get ready for an unforgettable day. Public Disco is teaming up with SLAB to present a vibrant open-air event on July 20th. From 3 PM to 10 PM, the City Centre Artist Lodge, a unique event space and creative hub in Mount Pleasant, will come alive with the beats of renowned DJs Justin Martin, NALA, Dane and more. The venue, which was transformed into a 17,000 square foot event space featuring 75 artist studios in 2022, is slated for future rezoning and development. Experience it while you still can!
“Public Disco can’t wait to create a vibrant event space that showcases an incredible lineup of international and local DJs, food trucks, pop-up bars, and social hangout areas,” says Nickolas Collinet, Executive Director of Public Disco Society, a registered non-profit organization. “The City Centre Artist Lodge is a unique event space and creative hub in Mount Pleasant that has hosted many cultural events since 2022. We are excited to be bringing a new concept to this one-of-a-kind site before its future rezoning and development.”
Spotlight on the Acts
Justin Martin, known for his infectious energy and genre-blending style, will headline the event. He’s bringing his signature house sound that has captivated audiences worldwide. NALA, a rising star in the electronic music scene, brings her eclectic mixes and vibrant performances to the stage. Local talents Dane, Just Sheila, and G-Luve will complement the lineup with their unique sounds, ensuring a diverse and dynamic musical experience. Curated by Max Ulis of Bass Coast Festival and SLAB, this 19+ ticketed event will also feature food from Good Dogs Plant Foods and Meet 2 Eat food trucks, a fully licensed pop-up bar serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, open artist studios, and social hangout spaces.
The block party is accessible, located on concrete with a gentle slope, and will have wheelchair-accessible washrooms, quiet areas, and picnic tables available for seating. Good Night Out will also provide harm-reduction services on site. Tickets are over 80% sold out, with Tier 2 tickets priced at $42 plus fees.

Public Disco Pride Block Party

Location: 4 W 3rd Ave, Vancouver, BC
Get ready for a spectacular celebration of love, diversity, and community spirit at the Public Disco Pride Block Party on August 3rd. This 19+ ticketed event promises a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, featuring international house music DJs Shaun J. Wright from Chicago and also Sappho from Portland. The event will also showcase local DJs Sam Steele, Adam 2, and DJ Grooveheart, and will feature gogo dancers from Vancouver’s kiki Ballroom Scene.
An industrial laneway at West 3rd & Ontario Street is going to be transformed into a vibrant event space, and will feature new temporary murals by queer artists Ciele Beau and Christina Hryc. As part of Vancouver Pride Society’s Canada Pride 2024 programming, this block party is an integral part of the city’s Pride celebrations.

Shaun J. Wright, renowned for his powerful vocals and deep house beats, brings a unique energy to the Pride Block Party. His collaborations with prominent artists have cemented his status as a trailblazer in the queer music scene. Sappho, hailing from Portland, is celebrated for her versatile sets that blend house, techno, and disco, creating an electrifying atmosphere. Local artists Sam Steele, Adam 2, and DJ Grooveheart will add their distinctive styles to the mix. Get ready for a night filled with diverse and captivating music.
“Public Disco events pay homage to the rich and diverse history of dance music, rooted in the pioneering efforts of Black, Queer, and Trans communities in Chicago and New York,” says Nickolas Collinet. “This event celebrates the resilience of these communities, honouring their commitments to dance music culture, and their ongoing work to bring people together through music.”

The Public Disco Pride Block Party invites attendees to dress to express as they celebrate Pride 2024. The event will be fully licensed with pop-up bars offering alcoholic and also non-alcoholic drinks. Food trucks include Good Dogs Plant Foods and Mom’s Grilled Cheese food trucks. There will also be shaded social hangout spaces to help you beat the heat. The block party will be accessible and located on flat concrete. The block party will also have wheelchair-accessible washrooms, quiet areas, and picnic tables available for seating. Good Night Out will also provide harm-reduction services on-site. Early entry tickets are $23.10 plus fees, and Tier 2 general admission tickets are $33.60 plus fees. Tickets are now over 80% sold out.

SLAB + PRIDE
