Fraser Valley Bandits Star Wars Night

Fraser Valley Bandits

May the force be with you at an out-of-this-galaxy basketball game coming to Langley this weekend.

The Fraser Valley Bandits are hosting a Star Wars-themed night on Sunday, July 17th and you don’t want to miss out on all the fun. The sights and sounds of the hit series will be on full display at the Langley Events Centre.

Bandits basketball is one of the best live sporting events in BC. The energy of being at one of their games is truly unreal on any given night, so you can expect a night you’ll be talking about for a long time to come.

Fans are encouraged to dress in costumes inspired by their favourite Star Wars characters. So expect to see Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Yoda, and maybe even Jar-Jar.

From the Imperial March to the roar of Chewbacca, there is a ton of fun to be had at this extraordinary game. The game day experience is tailored to showcase characters, audio and visuals from across the Star Wars universe.

The Bandits will even be wearing custom Star Wars jerseys as a one-off and a grand reveal is expected closer to the date.

Jerseys will be auctioned off post-game with proceeds going to Balding for Dollars as the charitable recipient. The money raised goes into programs that support patients’ quality of life while undergoing treatments.

Attendees can sit couchside courtesy of Jag’s Furniture & Mattress. Two fans will be selected at random to receive a complimentary seat upgrade.

They can also look out for Flair Airlines’ Shot from the Dot, where a randomly selected fan will be chosen to participate in this contest and will attempt two shots.

If the fan hits a shot from the Flair Airlines logo, they will win a trip to Championship Weekend in Ottawa.

The fan will then turn around to the other hoop, and if they hit that shot, the fan will win free flights anywhere Flair Airlines flies for one year.

But that’s not all. There is also the Spalding Post-Game Autograph Table. Where fans can meet the Bandits. Three members of the team will sign post-game autographs (free to attend) on the concourse outside of the Banquet Hall post-game.

Finally, the family-friendly event will invite kids 13 and under down to the court for a free throw post-game, with the mascot Berry the Bandit, for the A&W Canada Buckets With Berry portion of the evening.

If you love basketball and Star Wars, this game is a no-brainer. If you can’t make it, the Bandits will be playing a few more games at Langley Events Centre this July, including July 15 against Guelph, July 17 (Star Wars themed) and July 30 against the Edmonton Stingers (Fan Appreciation Night).

Doors open for the Star Wars game open at 11:30 a.m. Tip-off is at 1 p.m. against the Ottawa Blackjacks.

Rounding out the fun is the “Brunch & Hoops” pre-game buffet, which will be served from when doors open until tip-off.

Pricing for the buffet is $20 if you arrive within the first 30 minutes of doors opening and $25 if you arrive afterward. Payment for the buffet can be made at the doors to the Banquet Hall.

Ticket prices range between $29 to $69, which is fairly reasonable considering the average cost of other sports events in the province. See availability here.

What are you waiting for? Come to the dark side.
