BC’s Premier Christy Clark took to social media to address the issue of mandatory heels in the workplace.
Clark says the province is working towards ending this practice. She mentions on Facebook that mandatory heels aren’t just old-fashioned, but completely unacceptable in 2017. She also took to Twitter:
100% agree @AJWVictoriaBC & @iantostenson. Women shouldn’t have to wear high heels at work. We’ll move to end this https://t.co/IwjGSoYyvH

Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver has already shown support for ending mandatory heels, which Clark has claimed she supports.
Weaver introduced a bill to amend the Workers Compensation Act. The goal of the bill is to solidify that footwear requirements are the same for all genders.
Therefore, the bill aims to make it illegal for an employer to require an employee to wear certain footwear, such as heels.
