Around 3:30pm on May 28, 2025, officers were called to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal in West Vancouver. Reported stated that pedestrians were pinned under a bus

A four-year-old boy, as well as his mother and another woman, were struck by a TransLink bus in front of the ferry terminal. Firefighters and paramedics were already “engaged in life-saving efforts for three individuals” when West Vancouver officers arrived, said a police news release.

The boy was pronounced deceased at the scene. His mother has since been taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other woman is believed to be a family friend, and is in stable condition at the same hospital.

THE INVESTIGATION

The investigation is currently in its early stages.

As of now, the bus has been seized for mechanical inspection. Furthermore, the police went on to note that speed is believed to not be a contributing factor. The bus driver was identified as a TransLink employee and is being interviewed by police.
