For Metro Vancouverites—one of the most telltale signs that Spring has Sprung is a sea of pink. Blossom at Metropolis is bringing the beauty of cherry blossoms indoors for a month-long art installation.
Cherry Blossom Installation
Kicking off March 5th and going on until the 31st—you can enjoy the blossoms in Metrotown’s Grand Court with this one-of-a-kind installation that is made up of more than 250,000 cherry blossoms.
The awe-inspiring project is celebrating the arrival of Spring in the most epic way.

Vancouver interactive-arts company Hfour is bringing their vision to life with this new installation. They’re looking to encourage people to wander and take photos with the perfect backdrop. It even has an Instagram-worthy “selfie zone”.
It’s also just a serene spot to soak up the quarter-million-plus blossoms. Guests will be able to see their reflection of the blossoms in dozens of mirror spheres. As a result, it creates the illusion of infinite blooms hanging above them.

Stuart Ward, Creative Director of Hfour says: “Our team always aims to create experiential works of art that people can really lose themselves in. With Blossom at Metropolis, we think we’ve achieved something special that everyone, no matter their age/background will connect to. It’s our largest and most visual experience in Canada to date, and we’re excited to share this with Metropolis.”
Creative Workshops
In addition to the installation, Blossom at Metropolis will offer a series of workshops all dedicated to floral art and Japanese culture. They will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the installation, presented in collaboration with MUJI (Workshop Wednesdays) and Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Just a few of the things you’ll learn how to do in these informative and fun workshops are: origami, brush lettering, and flower arranging. Moreover, you can take part in traditional Japanese paper and fabric art, and soak in traditional Japanese folk dancing.
Visitors to the installation will also have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree. In addition, just by sharing videos and photos of the visit on Instagram using #METBlossom and @metropolisatmet, guests can also enter for a chance to win a weekly Blossom prize package or a $500 Metropolis at Metrotown gift card.
