A horrifying discovery was made on a popular walking trail on Burnaby Mountain this past weekend.

On Saturday, a man took his two rescue dogs for a walk on the North Road trailhead of Burnaby Mountain, where one of his dogs discovered meat filled with needles.

The man, Jeff Curr, took a closer look at the raw beef and realized that at least twelve sewing needles was sticking out of the meat.

One of Curr’s friends posted a photo of the meat found on her Facebook page.

“Watch your dogs on Burnaby mountain” reads the caption.

“This was pulled out of the mouth of a friend’s dog on the North Road trail. Needles in meat. Please share!”

Fortunately, the dog who found the meat was not injured.

The BC SPCA has been made aware of this situation. Pet owners of this popular dog walking spot are being advised to keep their pets leashed until a proper investigation is conducted.
