Spring is finally here and that means it’s the perfect time to explore the outdoors.

British Columbia is full of breathtaking parks and gardens.

Check out some of the best spots around the province to spend some time appreciating nature, in all its glory.


The Butchart Gardens


The world-renowned garden offers an abundance of beauty with an impressive 55-acres of stunning floral displays. There’s a rose carousel and spots to host afternoon tea. It’s also a peaceful spot to have lunch or dinner while soaking up the views. Check it out in Brentwood Bay, near Victoria, at 800 Benvenuto Avenue.

UBC Botanical Garden


The botanical garden at UBC is the perfect place to wander. Established in 1916, it is the oldest botanical garden at a university in all of Canada. They also have the Greenheart TreeWalk—allowing adventurers to walk along the 310-metre-long tree top canopy. Bask in the beauty at 6804 Marine Drive.


VanDusen Botanical Garden


A popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. In the heart of Vancouver, it features an extensive plant collection and even an Elizabethan maze, among other things. Visit the garden at 5251 Oak Street.

Okanagan Lavender Herb Farm


For sweeping views of the beautiful Okanagan Lake and displays of fragrant lavender—this garden is a must. Entice your senses at 4380 Takla Road in Kelowna.

Dr. Sun Yat Sen Chinese Garden


The garden is unique because it’s the first Chinese garden built outside of China. Situated in the appropriate Chinatown, they offer guided tours. They also serve freshly brewed Chinese tea. Check it out at 578 Carrall Street.

Butterfly Gardens


The Victoria Butterfly Gardens is a place you must visit, at least once. Transport yourself into a lush jungle with hundreds of free-flying butterflies (hence its name). There’s also lots of frogs, chameleons, parrots and more. Enjoy the garden at 1461 Benvenuto Avenue.


Cominco Gardens


A vibrant garden that boasts over 45,000 flowers annually. The 5-acre property is in Kimberly, BC. Relish in the beauty at 290 Rossland Blvd.

Milner Gardens


The Vancouver Island University maintains this magical garden. Visit the stunning grounds in Qualicum Beach at 2179 Island Hwy.
