Experience the magic of bio-luminescence by embarking on an adventure on the water in B.C. that you won’t soon forget.

Metta Eco Experiences offers an Into the Night Kayak Tour on the Sunshine Coast where guests can watch the waters of the Sechelt Inlet come to life, due to living organisms that emit light.

The light causes the water to awaken with a bio-luminescent glow. Any motion in the ocean sparks a whimsical dance of light as explorers continue to paddle into the darkness.

The tour departs nightly until Oct. 18. The exact time will be confirmed based on weather conditions and the time of the month. The  2.5 hour tour costs $109 per person and includes a sea kayak, paddle, safety gear and dry land instruction.

Keep in the mind the moonlight does impact the tour and how brightly you will see bio-luminescence. Basically, the less moonlight, the brighter the bio-luminescent sea creatures appear.

A similar experience can also be found on Airbnb Experiences. However, only instead of taking in bio-luminescence on a kayak, it offers guests a zodiac boat and takes them off the coast of Halfmoon Bay. To learn more about that option, visit their website.
