Clever marketing met strategy when the BC Lions revealed their new gun metal jerseys before their game against the Calgary Stampedars.
Typically, before any team introduces a new jersey or attire, there’s a press release and hype but the BC Lions the big surprise a secret with a last-minute uniform change which took many by surprise.
The new gun metal design, also known as the ‘BC Lions Third Jersey’ is a slick black look which camouflages jersey numbers from a distance and comes equipped with a matte helmet.
The Lions president, Dennis Skulsky told reporters after the game that only a select few of the club executives knew of the change.
“It’s been a closely guarded secret for months and our equipment manager Ken Kasuya deserves a lot of credit for pulling this off without a single player having any idea what was going to happen tonight,”
The BC Lions went on to beat the Stampeders 26-22.
The Jerseys are currently available on the Team Store for $199. Check them out:

The Lions revealed their new 60th season logo earlier this year as well which was designed by a local artist. If the winning streak continues, let’s hope the Lions make it to the Grey Cup, which will be held in Vancouver in 2014.
