While labour day weekend was mostly clear, the air advisory and hazy skies have returned to Metro Vancouver.

In addition to an air advisory, the city also issued a heat warning this weekend. The combination of record-breaking temperatures and toxins released from the wildfires has created extremely poor air quality throughout Greater Vancouver.

Thankfully, Thursday is calling for rain which should help clear up the haze a bit. The temperature will drop a couple of degrees down to 24°C during the day, and the evening may see some much needed rainfall.

Temperatures are expected to fall to 21°C on Friday with rainfall continuing throughout the day and into the evening. There will be a brief hiatus from the rain on Saturday during the day and temperatures will fall to 19°C. The rain will pick up Saturday evening and continue through Sunday for the entire day.

Air Advisory Considerations

While the air is very smoky, the UV index is still at 6 which is considered high. This means the sun’s rays are extremely powerful and therefore you should still wear sunscreen and protective clothing.

Strenuous activities should be avoided during the air advisory and people with lung conditions, the elderly, and small children should take additional precautions.
