Dallas Smith, a juno award winning country music star, is in the spotlight for something other than his vocal stylings.
The Langley native recently sparked controversy for calling some of his fans in Dawson Creek “disgusting.”
He headlined a show at the Encana Events Centre, and was not pleased at what he saw in the audience from the stage.
Shortly after his set, the country star took to Twitter where he noted that, “Tonight, I got to watch girls and guys punching, pulling hair, groping girls. Disgusting Dawson Creek. Most fans were great. Others ruined it. Grow the [expletive] up.”
I’m a good person. I speak my mind. I stand up for myself. Go ahead and be offended. I’m okay with that. pic.twitter.com/59JKR7RbqT

Dallas Smith And Dawson Creek
While Smith had no qualms with calling out the crowd on Twitter, some Dawson Creek residents took serious issue with his statement. While they had no problem with his calling out of the bad behaviour, they felt he did not need to include the town’s name in his statement.
It disgusts me that people like @dallassmith would use his fame to shame a small town for a few people who may not even live here but be from surrounding communities.

Indeed, many fans felt that including the name in the statement reflected poorly on the town as a whole. Smith is sticking by his words, and says he did not mean anything against the town. He added that he thinks Dawson Creek is a beautiful town, but that people in the crowd needed to be called out.
