Contributors:
Editorial Contributors
As an Editorial contributor, you’ll be given the opportunity to work alongside 604 Now’s editorial team to create content consisting of news, events, culture, reviews and more that will be published on our website. You’ll assist with researching, writing and editing content assigned to you, but will also have creative freedom to write about content you feel relevant to our readership.
In the past, our editorial contributors have been able to do things like interview local and international artists, talent, visit restaurants, and experience many popular attractions. They also receive cool networking event invites!
Estimated weekly hours: 2-5, but it depends on how many articles you submit each week. We’re looking for a commitment of at least one per week, but there’s no max!
Staff:
Associate Editor (Part-time)
The ideal candidate will have prior digital contention creation work experience, be social media savvy, and have a good understanding of Vancouver culture.
The position is designed for someone with immense interest in the city’s latest news, events, history, and additional topics we typically cover.
Job duties include:
- Working a flexible schedule, including early mornings, and evenings, up to 10 hours per week
- Collaborating and organizing with the editor-in-chief for the editorial calendar, along with on-going and future initiatives
- Creating original content and meeting tight deadlines, daily.
- Updating existing content
- Formatting 604 Now’s weekly newsletter
- Proof-reading and editing articles submitted by other team members
Qualifications:
- CMS (WordPress) and web media experience
- At least 1 year of experience in a similar role
- Excellent research skills
- Good photo editing skills
- Strong time management & prioritization skills
- Excellent communication and strong attention to detail
- A Vancouver resident for the past 5 years
Web Developer (Part-time)
This person will be responsible for the design, development, creation and maintenance of our website. This position also involves content updates and web optimization.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years in web design
- Strong foundation in graphics
- Demonstrated experience with sample work
- Competence in PHP/JS/CSS
