While most slept in on New Year’s Day, others made their way to English Bay for the annual Polar Bear Swim – a classic Vancouver tradition.
Thousands of brave souls took the plunge and kicked off 2016 with a dip into the freezing waters of the Pacific Ocean. In past years, there has been snow and rain during the annual event, but this year provided nothing but sunshine, making it a little easier for those taking part in the Polar Bear Swim for the first time.
As the excitement and chills unfolded, a drone captured it all and shared the highlights in an epic aerial video. It also managed to capture the Polar Bear swim race.
