Health Canada is advising consumers to “immediately stop using” a popular baby product that is now under recall across the country, with refunds being issued to those with the affected item.

Teether Recall in Canada
The recall concerns the product Skip Hop Baby Sesame Street Elmo Silicone Teether, which were sold at Carter’s Osh Kosh in Canada. The teether comes in the shape of Elmo’s face (red, orange, black, white) and includes a textured key (blue) and fabric crayon box (beige, blue, green, yellow, orange, red).
3,273 units of the affected product were sold in Canada, and 17,462 were sold in the U.S.
According to the recall notice, “the pupil segment (black) of Elmo’s eye on the teether can separate during use if frozen and be a potential choking hazard.”

The company has received 3 reports of incident and no reports of injury in Canada as of September 3, 2026. In the U.S., there has been 1 report of incident and no reports of injury.
What to Do
Consumers are asked to “immediately stop using the recalled product.” Skip Hop Inc., the company, can be contacted for further instructions on the disposal of the product. Consumers will be able to receive a refund in the form of a gift card.
