A donut shop by day and cocktail bar by night, this dessert and coffee shop is making a change to their current menu. Not only are their regular hours shifting, but they’re also opening for all the night owls and adding some excitingly different drinks to their usual coffee servings.
SWEET TALK: A MENU CHANGE
Sweet Talk serves all the good stuff: donuts, breakfast sandwiches, and rich coffee. And with their creatively fun takes on donut flavours, you’ll be tempted to try them all. They’ve got crème brûlée, tiramisu, even mochi donuts that are available on the weekends, and many others. It’s a perfect spot for a sweet snack and a caffeine pick-me-up.
But once the sun begins to fall, Sweet Talk sets aside their donuts and coffee and replaces them with cocktails and delicious snacks.
Sweet Talk’s owners Scott McTavish and Juan Perello note that the cocktail lounge was something that they’ve always wanted to do. In fact, Perello has experience in crafting cocktails at a number of Vancouver bars, such as The Keefer Bar. Bringing that to Sweet Talk, he and McTavish aim to entice new customers with their unique drinks and the nostalgic atmosphere of Sweet Talk’s decor.
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO SIP (OR EAT) WITH FRIENDS
The current menu offerings have wine, beer, and cocktails, as well as zero proof drinks for those of you who don’t imbibe. The drink categories are fairly vast, what with their “long + bubbly” drinks and “stirred + spirit forward” cocktails, as well as many others.
Notably, Sweet Talk also serves “nitro” drinks that feature a nice bit of caffeine in them. Try their Nitro Espresso Martini or their Nitro Japanese Slipper that is described as “fruity, tangy, velvety.”
Their “Bites” menu also features snacks and shareable plates, and of course a bit of dessert for the sweet-toothed folks. Have some classic Chips & Dip with caramelized onion and herb dip, or nibble on their wonderfully smoky and spicy Shishito Peppers.
Sweet Talk’s bar is open Thursday through Saturday from 6 p.m. until late. Bask in the comfort of their lounge while you enjoy a cocktail and a bite to eat.
