With just hours to go before its scheduled start time, the Kanye West Vancouver Yeezus Tour stop hit a halt. Scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Sunday evening, Rogers Arena announced via twitter that due to unforeseen circumstances, the concert has been postponed and fans would have to wait until October 31 for the show. Shortly after, the concerts cancellation was confirmed by Vancouver Police and the tours website, but reasons behind the reschedule were unknown.
A lot of media platforms have been issuing opinions on why they believe it was cancelled, which spiraled the whole situation into one big mystery, especially since Yeezy, nor his publicist have not made it official why the show was postponed. That being said, below were the top 4 rumors of why the Kanye West Vancouver concert was delayed til Halloween and the REAL reason below.
1. His equipment truck left Seattle too late. Â
Kanye debuted the Yeezus tour in Seattle the night before the Vancouver show. “The Kanye West show (equipment, lighting, stages, etc) was not completely loaded out of the Key Arena in Seattle at 7 a.m. when Pink’s trucks showed up (she had a concert the following day) for the show there [Sunday]. …There is no physical way the show could have moved to Vancouver, including three hours of drive time plus a border crossing, and been set up in time.”
If any blame is to be assigned, it should be to Kanye’s production team, who clearly had no clue as to how long setup and take-down should take. “When a tour is properly teched, these times are worked out prior to the commencement of a tour.”
2. His equipment truck was stolen.
This was the original rumor. Apparently the production staff took apart everything overnight and packed it into the moving trucks. They went to their hotel to get some sleep and came back the next morning to find one of the trucks were stolen.
3. He couldn’t cross the border.
This rumor is just silly, but it’s surprising how many people think it’s true! If you’ve seen Kanye during a paparazzi interview, you know he doesn’t like getting questioned. The rumour suggests Kanye was getting harassed by a border guard and lost it, furthermore getting him rejected from entering Canada. Before world tours are official, tour management insures all paperwork and issues around crossing a border are figured out for a smooth procedure.
4. He didn’t want to miss Kim Kardashian’s birthday at midnight.
Kanye’s girlfriend, the notorious Kim Kardashian (whom he recently had a baby with) would be celebrating her 33rd birthday at midnight and Kanye didn’t want to miss it. Ironically, Kim Kardashian is apparently in California right now (where she resides most of the year) and Kanye’s tour stop after Vancouver would have been in San Jose, California, followed by Oakland, California.
The Real Reason
In combination of #4, Kanye postponed his Vancouver concert to propose to Kim Kardashian and give her the birthday surprise of a lifetime! Â Kanye West reportedly popped the question in front of close friends and family at the AT&T Park stadium in San Francisco.
There are a few sources who claim tour management is now blaming the production crew, who reportedly claim it’s nearly impossible to take down the entire set over night and have it set up in a new venue the following day. However, other legitimate sources claim it’s a cover up by the PR team. After all, Kanye couldn’t have just randomly said “Hey! Since my show has been postponed, let’s go rent out an arena, buy a ring and propose to my girlfriend”
Staff and crew from ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ were also at the arena to catch the special moment which is expected to make one interesting episode!
