The chief of Vancouver Police, Jim Chu, has announced he will retire this spring, after serving 36 years with the force, and nearly eight years as the chief.
He tweeted the news earlier this morning, and thanked his supporters, partners, and staff.

Mayor Gregor Robertson will host a press conference later today at 11:30am PT for Jim Chu to discuss the legacy the chief leaves behind, and reveal plans for his replacement.
One year after high school, Chu joined the VPD in 1979 and slowly climbed the ladder to chief. He also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from the University of British Columbia.
We tip our hat to Jim Chu and the great work he’s done for the city for the past 36 years.
