A day of shopping is a day well spent! Luckily, we are in Vancouver where we’re flush with diverse shopping districts, each with its own distinct character, formed by the shops and the people that frequent there. The mall has its uses, especially when it rains, but where do you go when you want to hit the pavement?

Earning a reputation for itself as a hip neighbourhood, South Main is known for its vintage and consignment storefronts and antique shops. You can wander into any secondhand clothing store and be sure to walk out with unique finds from any era in remarkable condition. If you’re more into local designers, there are a number of boutiques to discover contemporary styles.

Gastown

Similar to Main Street, Gastown is a good bet to find independent and local designers but that’s where the similarities end. A charmingly cobblestoned district, this is the place where streetwear enthusiasts and youngish working professionals are bound to find something sharp. Home decor retailers and First Nations art galleries populate this neck of the woods too.

South Granville

As Shaughnessy’s shopping district, South Granville caters to an affluent crowd with high-end retailers including the city’s only Pottery Barn. Nicknamed Gallery Row, South Granville has the densest concentration of art galleries in the city. Looking for stylish furniture or cooking wares? You’ll be sure to pick up that and some knickknacks.

With 150 businesses and counting, Robson Street is Vancouver’s runway. This commercial district in the southeast-northwest thoroughfare runs from Burrard Street to Jervis, and it comes with a long history. It’s one of the most convenient areas to get your shopping done if you love your labels and big brand shops.

Yaletown

Yaletown is a cosmopolitan downtown neighbourhood home to fine dining and trendy shops. Many storefronts carry homeware and fashion together in one place including Moule and Fine Finds. For interesting items you might not find anywhere else, Yaletown has a lot to offer to the discerning eye.
