Vancouver Pharmacies To Provide Free HIV Testing

Two pharmacies located in Vancouver are gearing up to provide  free on-the-spot HIV tests. The free testing is part of a new year long pilot project by Vancouver Coastal Health and Providence Health Care.

Medicine Shoppe pharmacies will provide the free service. They have one location at 2030 Kingsway Avenue and the second at 6180 Fraser Street. Both pharmacies are located next to a Pacific Medical walk-in clinic where doctors can provide help and prescribe treatment.

Pharmacists who are specially trained for the job will handle all tests that take only five minutes according to the health authority.

The pilot project will be funded through the provincial government.
