The North Shore is about to look a lot prettier thanks to the North Vancouver Councils approval of developing a Presentation House Gallery.
The new art gallery will be situated in Lower Lonsdale making it neighbors with North Vancouver’s SeaBus terminal. It will be designed by Patkau Architects and cost $15 million, with $2.5 million being funded by the City of North Vancouver.
The gallery will be 19,000 square feet, which is more than double the space it currently holds in an old schoolhouse. Included in the new space will be a bookstore, along with a café and waterfront plaza. The gallery is in hopes of becoming a cultural hub and an attraction for tourists.
The new Presentation House Gallery will open in 2017 and estimates it will attract 33,000 visitors in its first year.
