Latincouver has issued a formal clarification about its involvement in the upcoming Lapu-Lapu Day Festival 2026 following confusion over its role in planning the event.
In a statement this week, the cultural nonprofit said it is not an organizing partner, co-producer, or decision-making body for the festival and stressed there is no formal agreement with Filipino BC on planning, logistics, programming or delivery of the event. Instead, Latincouver said its participation will be limited to cultural presence only through the inclusion of Latin American elements.
“Latincouver remains committed to supporting communities and standing in solidarity with community-led efforts in ways that are respectful, meaningful, and aligned,” the statement reads, underscoring the organization’s intent to ensure transparency and shared understanding about its role.
