Asian Women Cinema – 7 Beats Per Minute is calling all women interested in Asian movies directed by Asian women. This event highlights amazing Asian women filmmakers, as well as giving everyone the opportunity to learn and talk about how sex, race, and class are portrayed in film and media!
Excitingly, the event will feature a screening of the documentary 7 Beats Per Minute, directed by Yuqi Kang, in English and Mandarin, with English subtitles. Viewers will dive in the deep sea with Jessea, the world-record freediver, and follow her inspiring journey. The film examines who she truly is as a person, as well as her relationship as a subject with the director. Her story is one that is a must-watch for anyone who adores the documentary genre.
Afterwards, there will be a discussion with the director Yuqi Kang.
For film-lovers, you won’t want to miss this amazing free event. Get in touch with Metro Vancouver’s talented Asian community and talk all about film!
