Celebrating the legendary and fearless Indigenous Visayan Chieftain Datu Lapu-Lapu, the Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party is inviting everybody to take part in the festivities to honour the spectacular legacy of Lapu-Lapu. As British Columbia’s largest Filipino cultural festival, this year’s celebration is sure to be one you won’t forget anytime soon.
LAPU-LAPU DAY BLOCK PARTY 2025

Lapu-Lapu is considered the first national hero of the Philippines. He stands as an unwavering symbol of resilience, endurance, and strength in the Age of Exploration. He rose against Spanish colonization, stood for his people’s traditions and culture, and has continued to be a person whose spirit has shaped the Filipino identity.
This will be the second annual Lapu-Lapu Day Block Party. Guests can expect a variety of live performances, vendors, amazing Filipino food, and basketball tournaments, too.
The Block Party’s headline performer will be Apl.de.Ap of the iconic Black Eyed Peas. Other performers include MARZIA, Swiggle Mandela, and Kaya Ko.

And if you’re looking to take part in the basketball tournament, gather your crew and sign up to win big. With three guaranteed games, and a shiny trophy waiting at the end of it, if you’re great at shooting hoops, then it’s worth a try.
Entrance is by donation. You can either pick up a ticket online or in-person— and don’t worry if you can’t give much. No one will be turned away! All the proceeds go toward making the Block Party happen and to supporting their community programs year-round.
Take part in a celebration of culture, creativity, and community. Enjoy the food, the performances, and the atmosphere that truly encapsulates who Lapu-Lapu was and is to the Filipino community.
