Canucks Edged By Predators

James Neal scored the go ahead goal in the third period that propelled his Predators to a 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks Tuesday night in Nashville.

As the Vancouver Canucks defensemen were changing, Barrett Jackman found a streaking Neal who beat Ryan Miller glove side with a beautiful wrist shot.

The goal was Neal’s 18th of the year.

The game also saw the return of Brandon Sutter who missed the last 33 games with a sports hernia that required him to have surgery.

In his first game back he was able to net a goal in what Canucks fan hope to be a sign of things to come.

Sutter dropped a pass for Sedin as they came over the blue line, then cut over to the right slot for the return pass, one-touching it over the pad and past the outstretched glove of a sliding Rinne at 11:39 mark of the first.

The Canucks were also unable to get their first shot on net until the 6:10 mark of the first period.

The Predators on the other hand had no such problem.

Craig Smith scored 59 seconds into the game beating Miller as he drove the net unchecked to deflect a Mike Fisher backhand pass over his glove.

On the night Brandon Sutter was the no. 1 center as Henrik Sedin is still out with an injury.

In the win, Pekka Rinne 28 saves while Ryan Miller made 17 saves in the loss.

Up next: The Canucks are off until after the NHL all-star game as they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on February 4th.
