Best Value Grocery Stores In Canada
Shopping Around
We asked our audience where the best value grocery stores in Canada are. While there was a general consensus as to one store being above the rest, many people had creative ways to get around the growing cost of groceries these days.
A number of commenters mentioned having to go to multiple stores. It’s not enough to just shop at a single chain anymore, so it’s best to hunt out the deals independently and then visit an array of stores. This way, you’re always getting the best discounts possible. While this option is time-consuming, it can pay off in the end when you check your receipts at the end of the day.

Another option is to shop at small, independent grocers. They aren’t necessarily cheaper, but one commenter mentioned that “you can find significant savings on the staples, or better quality for a similar price.” You’d also be supporting local businesses, and bolstering your community’s economy with your purchases.
The Best Store(s)
As for the best value grocery store, you’re going to want to go to either Costco or No Frills, according to our audience.
The reasoning behind shopping at Costco is pretty obvious. Although you do require a membership, these costs pale in comparison to the discounts and savings you get from being their customer. Buying in bulk is usually a good idea, too. No Frills also offers steep sales, making it a good everyday grocery store pick.

Places like Walmart and Save-On-Foods also got a few good mentions from a number of people. And of course, some people said they didn’t want to share– since then all the bargains will be gone.
