It’s not the sought-after Amazon headquarters, but it’s still a nice addition to the local Vancouver economy.
Amazon has announced it’s opening a second corporate office in downtown and employ 1,000 workers.
The office, with Oxford Properties, is scheduled to open in 2020 and will be their second in Vancouver.

In 2015, the company opened up its first office in Vancouver that accommodates mostly software development engineers.
“Amazon is excited to continue growing our workforce throughout Canada,” said Alexandre Gagnon, Vice President of Amazon Canada and Mexico.
“We are among the largest employers of software engineers in Canada and look forward to continuing to create new job opportunities for Canadians”.
Mayor Gregor Robertson was on hand for the announcement and shared his enthusiasm on Twitter.

In addition to its office in Vancouver, the company employs over 500 British Columbians at its fulfillment centres in Delta and New Westminster.
