RiverFest is here to celebrate BC Rivers Day and World Rivers Day on September 26 and 27!
Hosted at the Fraser River Discovery Centre (FRDC), this plans to be an exciting weekend packed with a dynamic mix of exhibits and activities, perfect for a family-friendly outing.
RiverFest 2026
During the event, the FRDC will be offering free admission with registration. Attendees can experience a wide range of exciting fun, including exhibits, live performances, an exhibitor expo and artisan market, the Lucille Johnstone Workboat Parade, and tons of activities for all ages.

Saturday, September 26
- Family Fun Zone
- 10:00am – 4:00pm @ the Centre
Explore the FRDC’s interactive exhibits and participate in hands-on activities located throughout the building to learn about the stories of the Fraser River.

Fraser River Diorama

Combine a variety of fun materials, including markers, oil pastels, cardboard, construction and tissue paper, popsicle sticks, sand, rocks and more to create a unique diorama inspired by the beautiful Fraser River ecosystem.

The Lucille Johnstone Workboat Parade takes place on the New West waterfront! Find a good place to watch vessels from a variety of companies and organizations cruise by.

Soak up the sights as you stroll along the New Westminster Quay where exhibitors will share their expertise and makers will showcase their skills and wares. - Samson V Museum

DIY Salmon: Celebrate Our Native Aquatic Life

10:00am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 3:00pm @ the CentreGet creative and celebrate one of B.C.’s most iconic species with a fun, eco-friendly salmon-themed art workshop! Using repurposed paper and foam materials, participants explore their creativity while learning about and celebrating our local aquatic life.
