But there’s one specific neighbourhood that just got the coveted title of “Brooklyn of.”
The Brooklyn of Vancouver
While “Brooklyn” is in the website’s title, Brooklyn Of isn’t actually about New York. As a travel website, they list the best neighbourhoods in a city that “you actually want to stay in.”
“The Brooklyn part is shorthand, not a New York reference and not a joke. The answer is always local: Anjos in Lisbon, Söder in Stockholm, Kreuzberg in Berlin, Mar Mikhael in Beirut, Shimokitazawa in Tokyo. One page per city. That’s the whole idea,” explains Brooklyn Of.
Essentially, they name the coolest neighbourhood in every city. And for Vancouver, that’s Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant

According to Brooklyn Of, “Mount Pleasant is the coolest neighborhood in Vancouver for creative culture, independent food, and design-led hotels.”
They specifically mention Main Street as where the action unfolds from. You can find all sorts of breweries, record shops, delicious Vietnamese restaurants and coffee roasters all throughout 2nd and King Ed. On Saturday mornings, the weekends are full of people, and yet the neighbourhood never seems to feel like it’s in a rush.
Runner-Ups

There’s still plenty of other cool spots in Vancouver, though. Brooklyn Of lists three main ones:
- Commercial Drive, where you can grab a slice and then stroll through vintage shops.
- Gastown, packed with brick and cobblestone streets that hide some of the city’s best cocktail bars.
- Chinatown, with the most delicious dim sum you’ll ever have.
Are there any other neighbourhoods that you think are the Brooklyn of Vancouver?
