We may get to relive some of the glory days from the 2010 Winter Olympics sooner than we thought.
Calgary’s International Olympic Committee unveiled plans to include Whistler as part of their 2026 Winter Olympic Bid.

It seems far for athletes competing in Calgary, but if they do decide to bid, it’s a possibility.

The bid corporation suggests using the ski jumping venue in Whistler that was used in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
While some are opposed to taking one of the sports outside the province of Alberta—the International Olympic Committee says it will cost about five times less to use the Whistler venue as opposed to renovating Calgary’s existing ski jumps from the 1988 Winter Games.
According to a report done by the Calgary Bid Exploration Committee, there’s a vast difference in price depending on which option they choose.
If they were to construct a new ski jump in Canmore it’d be around $100 million. If they decide to just renovate Calgary’s existing structures it would take the cost down to $70 million.
But using the relatively new Whistler venue would cost half the price, at around $35 million.
