Being the face of a city comes with perks, but it also comes with endless blame.
On Friday June 10, Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson took to Twitter to express his happiness of the city driving Canadian growth, and being responsible for 72% of new jobs in Canada last year.
72% of new jobs in Canada last year were created in #Vancouver. We drive Cdn growth w/ tech/digital/green jobs! #cdnpoli #bcpoli #vanpoli

While many Vancouverites questioned where the stats came from, the owner of 33 Acres Brewery had his own concerns.
Tweeting back the mayor, the owner said “I created 35 of those jobs and can’t afford a house. Weird”.
The reply quickly generated a large amount of oohs and ahhs, and sent the local socialsphere into a short frenzy.
Over one hundred comments on the jab have poured in on Reddit, with many pointing fingers at Robertson.
Some have come to the mayor’s defense however, pointing out that the current state of Vancouver’s sizzling market is out of his control.
