Free Activities Includes:
- Kakizome New Year Calligraphy: Write your New Year’s resolutions in Japanese characters using brush and ink. Kakizome, meaning ‘first writing’ in Japanese, symbolizes the auspicious beginning of the year. Take this opportunity to inscribe your aspirations and intentions for the coming year. Materials, examples, and guidance will be provided to ensure an enriching and enjoyable experience.
- Shogi, Igo, Karuta, and Gaji/Hanafuda: Try your hand at these classic Japanese board games. Discover new strategies, and challenge your friends and family. Kid-friendly board games are also provided.
- Loose Leaf Tea Open House: Savor the delicate flavors of Japanese tea from 1-3pm.
- Hawaiian Hula Dance Class: Join a free class from 2-3pm in the budojo for beginners. (18+)
- Open House with Our Instructors: Meet our talented instructors and learn about our programs.
There will also be paid programs you can register for, along with a variety of food vendors on site with delicious treats.
