Curious about the world beneath you? Bring the whole family to Discovery Day, hosted by the Association for Mineral Exploration (AME).
The event takes place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 10 AM–2 PM at the Vancouver Convention Centre East.
Discover BC’s fascinating world of minerals and mining through interactive, hands-on exhibits:
- 3D metal printing and scanning demonstrations
- VR mine modeling showcasing cutting-edge technology in mineral exploration
- Interactive activities featuring electric currents and magnetic fields
- Explore ancient fossils, touch billion-year-old rocks, and see tech-driven innovations in action!
Explore exhibits from leading organizations like Below BC, Britannia Mine Museum, Science World, SFU Earth Sciences Lab, UBC Geering Up, and Women in Mining BC.
Free family fun, including:
- Face painting, balloon twisting, stickers, and colouring books
- Tasty treats like popcorn, cotton candy, and hot chocolate
- Meet mascots Buddy and Betty the Miners, Spike from Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Bob the Bear
- from the Vancouver Canadians!
Recommended for ages 4–12, but fun for all! No registration required.
