Kimchi & K-Food Festival Returns to Coquitlam This August After Drawing 80,000 Visitors Last Year

Under the theme “Feel Korea,” the festival will bring together Korean food, K-pop and cultural experiences, with organizers expecting more than 100K+ visitors this year

Kimchi & K-Food Festival 2026 will take place Aug. 28 and 29 at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam. Featuring Korean food, live entertainment, traditional culture and hands-on activities, the two day festival is expected to attract more than 100K+ visitors.

Feel Korea

This year’s theme, “Feel Korea,” invites visitors to experience the flavours, spirit and culture of Korea. The festival combines traditional and contemporary programming to offer an immersive introduction to the many sides of the country.

The festival aims to extend beyond the local Korean community and become a cultural celebration for people of all backgrounds. By bringing together the food, tourism-inspired attractions and cultural experiences that travellers often seek in Korea, organizers hope to give visitors an opportunity to discover the country’s appeal without having to travel there.

Delicious Food Everywhere

Food is at the heart of the festival. At the lively K-Street Food Market, food trucks and vendor booths will serve Korean favourites such as tteokbokki, gimbap and Korean-style hot dogs. The festival will also feature multicultural food vendors, retail booths, a Kids Zone and a variety of hands-on activity areas.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to make traditional kimchi under the guidance of professional instructors. Participants will use traditional methods to prepare their own kimchi and take it home in a sealed container after the class. Advance registration for the kimchi-making experience is now open.

Cultural Programming

Beyond food, a diverse range of Korean cultural programs will run throughout both days. Festivalgoers can take part in hanbok photo experiences and watch taekwondo demonstrations and traditional Korean cultural performances.

One of this year’s major highlights is the K-POP Dance Championship. Internationally recognized dancer JyoJyo (Jihyo Park) will serve as a judge, bringing additional expertise and excitement to the competition. Park has collaborated with global artists including BLACKPINK, LISA, Jessi and ATEEZ, and has conducted dance workshops and performed around the world.

Seventeen talented teams will take the stage to showcase their distinctive K-pop cover performances. With high-energy routines and impressive technical skill, the teams will compete for the championship title in front of a live festival audience.

This Year’s Kimchi & K-Food Festival

Bringing together Korean food, traditional culture, K-pop and hands-on experiences, Kimchi & K-Food Festival 2026 is designed for people of all ages and backgrounds. Admission is free, although advance registration is required for select activities, including the kimchi-making experience.

Dogs are also welcome at the festival. They must remain leashed at all times, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets and keeping them safely under control. Dogs may not be permitted in certain areas, including food service zones. Visitors bringing dogs must follow all on-site signage and pet guidelines established by festival organizers.
