Stage 43 Theatrical Society is excited to announce the first production of their 43rd season: Misery, by William Goldman, based on the novel by Stephen King, directed by Angela Bell.

Misery tells the story of successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon. He is rescued from a car crash by his “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads his latest book. Only, she becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character. Annie forces Paul to write a new novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go anywhere. Paul writes as if his life depends on it, and it does.

Highlighting amazing local talent both onstage and off, our production features three experienced actors from around the lower mainland. All are excited to bring these modern classic characters to life.

  • Annie Wilkes is played by: Alaina Holland of Surrey
  • Paul Sheldon is played by: Dann Wilhelm of Surrey
  • Sheriff Buster is played by: Michael Airton of Coquitlam

Just in time for the Halloween season, Misery will be performed at the Evergreen Cultural Centre, 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam, October 16-19 and 22-25, 2025.
