Vancouver’s biggest celebration of all things Latin American is returning to the city this July.
Carnaval Del Sol will be taking place from Friday, July 8 to Sunday, July 10 at Jonathan Rogers Park, near Broadway Ave. and Manitoba St, the closest Skytrain station from the park is Broadway City Hall Station.
Spectators can expect artists, music, food, a beer garden and several exhibitors at the event, all with a Latin flair.
The family-friendly celebration will host an opening night on July 8, which will then be followed by the carnaval itself.
Here’s what you can expect:
VCAD Main Stage (Visual College of Art and Design)

Several Latin artists and singers will be performing on the main stage throughout the weekend. They will be showcasing various genres and styles of music to bring the Latin community back into Vancouver.
Kids Plaza
The festival will also have lots of activities for kids to enjoy, including a puppet show and a construction workshop on both the Saturday and Sunday of the event. Kids can also make pinatas and take part in other arts and crafts.
Food Plaza

Foodies will want to head straight to this plaza. There will be plenty of food trucks and carts on-site, serving up a tour of tastes from Mexico to Chile. The dishes are not unique to one country. From one border to the next, the food is modified by local styles and home grown ingredients.
Arts Plaza
Budding artists can bring out their inner creative side at this plaza. They’ll have the opportunity to learn hands-on about Latino sculptures, photography and other artsy activities.
Beer Plaza

This is the place to be if all you’re looking to do is dance, relax and enjoy a crisp, cold drink. There will be 1,500 seats available at the beer plaza, where guests can enjoy food, drinks and live music all in one convenient location.
Experience Plaza
Learn how to make special Latin-inspired dishes while at Carnaval Del Sol. They’ll be showcasing how to master Cocadas, Brazilian Hominy Pudding and Chile Relleno y Arroz Mexicano (stuffed pepper and Mexican rice).
In addition to the festival, there will also be a plethora of latin American experiences taking place between July 2 to 16. This includes a cruise party, soccer tournament, and salsa night workshop. Click here to learn more.
