Dynamic Pricing on Cruises
Even if you don’t know what dynamic pricing is, you’ve definitely experienced it at some point if you’ve ever tried to book a plane ticket during the holidays or bought a concert ticket. The model is meant to adapt to the market, with higher demand pushing prices upward. It happens commonly during holiday seasons, especially with airlines.

Starting on December 1, 2026, Carnival Cruise Lines will be implementing that exact pricing strategy for some of its onboard packages.
In a news release, the cruise line wrote,
Carnival will also introduce dynamic pricing for beverage packages and Wi-Fi plans. Pricing will vary based on sailing length, itinerary and season. Whether guests choose to bundle benefits through a FunPack or purchase individual packages, these enhancements provide greater flexibility and more options for tailoring their Carnival vacation experience.
Dynamic pricing models have come under fire in the past, with New Democratic Party leader Avi Lewis calling it “downright creepy” in April. Other opposition has noted it as exploitative and unfair.
