It’s not everyday if you see a Zamboni on the street, especially with sirens flashing behind it.

On Monday night, Central Saanich police officers responded to a report about a man driving a Zamboni down a residential road.

It didn’t take officers long to track down the driver, who turned out to be a farmer attempting to pay it forward.

According to police, the farmer had initially purchased the Zamboni as a fertilizer spreader. In an effort to clean Tanner Road, he took it upon himself to use machine to clear snow.

While it’s illegal for Zambonis to be on the street, the officers let the innocent driver off with a warning.
