Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the Coquihalla Highway that will impact the area now through Wednesday.
A moist Pacific frontal system moved inland early this morning. As a result, a strong southwest flow will send waves of moisture across the Coast Mountains over the next 36 hours.
Approximately 17cm of snow fell near the Coquihalla Highway last night. The snow is expected to ease later this morning but will then re-intensify later in the day.
Additional snowfall amounts of 15-20 cm are forecast by late this afternoon.
Total storm accumulations will be between 40 to 50 cm before the snow eases off on Wednesday.
Snow is also expected for Boundary, East Columbia, Shuswap, West Columbia and parts of Highway 3.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
