Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for metro Vancouver early Wednesday evening.

Wind gusts have suddenly picked up, and are expected to potentially cause damage.

Strong southerly winds with gusts up to 90 km/h are expected overnight and Thursday morning. The threat of the strong wind gusts will end later Thursday morning but it will remain blustery for the remainder of the day.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.

According to the alert, wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
