What a game!
The Whitecaps dominated the San Jose Earthquake, cruising to a historic 5-0 victory at BC Place. Vancouver got goals from Fredy Montero, Cristian Techera, Kendall Waston, and a pair from Nicolás Mezquida.
It was truly a magical moment for the club.
The knockout round victory is their first playoff win in club MLS history. The Whitecaps now prepare to face Seattle Sounders FC in the Western Conference Semifinal. The home leg kicks off on Sunday, October 29th at 5:30 p.m.

With goalkeeper Stefan Marinović being sharp all game, Vancouver went on the offensive.
In the 33rd minute, Vancouver opened the scoring off a Techera corner kick from the left side. Waston stood firmly in the middle, heading the ball to the far post, where Montero put a diving header past San Jose to make it 1-0.

In the 57th minute, Techera drilled one in on a direct free kick to make it 2-0.
The home team didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal. Waston made it 3-0 in the 64th minute. Capping off a perfect night, Mezquida came on in the second half to score two goals in a span of two minutes.
Let’s see if the Whitecap can make history once again.
